       Spring has finally arrived in Santa Barbara!  Some of late blooming Cymbidums still have buds.  Large-flowered Cattleyas are in bloom and bud.  The Sarcochilus are blooming in an array of colors.  The Renantheras and Encyclias are just starting to bloom.

     For the warmer/drier months, we’re repopulating the Chrisman Garden, named in memory of our founder,  with many of our orchid specimens and other fun orchids.  

      The “Dendrobium speciosum unbloomed-seedling List” is now available.   It contains pictures of the actual plants available for purchase in addition to the parent names and descriptions.  Prices range from $35 to $300.  E-mail us at sboe@sborchid.com to request a pdf file.  The updated “Specimen List” is also available by e-mail as a pdf.  It includes flower and plant pictures, plus some new notes about the plant and its growing conditions.  Prices range from $125 (Dendrobium speciosum) to $5000 (Brassavola perrinii).   Types include Laelia anceps, Mexican Laelias, Cattleyas, Vandas, Dendrobium speciosum, and Cymbidium tracyanum.

        The Summer Open House will be Friday July 19-Sunday July 21, 2024.    For fans of both soccer and orchids, we  heard that some well-known British soccer teams are playing at UCSB that same weekend (most of us are not soccer fans, so you will have to look this up yourselves).

Please maintain a distance of 6 feet between your party and your fellow orchid lovers and the SBOE staff.  Please do not visit if you have been in close contact with anyone who has recently tested positive for COVID or if you have COVID-like symptoms.  Some parts of our nursery will be closed during this limited opening.
